HOW TO CLEAN YOUR REUSABLE SHOE COVERS
As a contractor, you know how dirty things can get on the job. With the right gear though, your shoes and feet will stay clean and uninfected with bacteria. Furthermore, you’ll keep your client’s homes and work areas pristine as well.
One of those items that can help protect your feet is reusable shoe covers. They’re easy to slip on before entering any construction site and they don’t take up much space in your pocket or tool bag.
And with Tiger Effects’ shoe covers, you can rest easy knowing these are built to last and can be cleaned with minimum effort. Thanks to its water-resistant uppers and soles, it’s easy to maintain and clean. Easy-care machine washable, with less waste than disposable shoe covers.
There are a couple of ways to clean your reusable shoe covers, and we are here to teach you how so you can make sure they are ready for their next use.
WHY CHOOSE REUSABLE SHOE COVERS OVER DISPOSABLE ONES
Reusable shoe covers offer a number of advantages over disposable ones.
For starters, they are more convenient to use since you don’t need to pack them in your toolbox or pocket every time you head out on the job. Reusable shoe covers can be washed between uses and even reused again if they aren’t covered in dirt or grime.
While there is no limit to how many times you can wash reusable shoe covers, it’s still recommended that they are replaced after every six months due to dust accumulation which reduces its strength and lifespan.
Reusable shoe covers can also reduce construction site pollution by cutting down single-use material waste. For example, with disposable shoe covers alone, there would be an estimated 240 million boxes thrown away every year.
CLEAN REUSABLE SHOE COVERS – HAND WASH
Cleaning reusable shoe covers has never been easier. There are two ways you can go about it, with the first one being through hand washing.
STEP 1 – BRUSH OFF ANY LOOSE DIRT
The first step when cleaning your reusable shoe covers via hand wash is to brush off any loose dirt on the soles or uppers. It is best to do this using a soft bristle brush.
STEP 2- PREPARE YOUR CLEANING SOLUTION
The next step will be preparing the cleaning solution you’ll be using. Now this solution is largely dependent on what you like to use. Many people can use a mixture and soap. There are many other recipes that people and families prefer as well.
STEP 3 – BRUSH THE INSIDES
Now that everything is prepared, time to start cleaning. You’ll want to take your handy soft bristle brush and use it to brush the insides of your shoe covers.
While the outsides make contact with the floor, the insides are in close contact with your shoes and similarly get dirty. Brush it well to ensure the insides are clean for your next use.
STEP 4 – SOAK IT IN THE SOLUTION
Once you’ve brushed and cleaned away the dirt, you’ll want to leave your reusable shoe covers soaking in your prepared solution. Allow it to soak for about 5 to 10 minutes to ensure all the clean goodness stays in your shoe covers.
STEP 5 – RINSE THOROUGHLY
After having your reusable shoe covers soak, time to rinse it. Rinse it thoroughly and clean away all the cleaning solution, dirt, and residue that may have stayed.
STEP 6 – AIR DRY
The final step we have is to air dry your shoe covers. Hang it somewhere where it can just dry and get ready for its next use.
While hand washing may require more hands-on efforts, it does allow for people to ensure that their shoe covers are totally clean for the next use. As the saying goes, “if you want something done right, do it yourself.”
CLEAN REUSABLE SHOE COVERS – MACHINE WASH
Apart from hand washing, you also have the option of cleaning your reusable shoe covers via machine wash. If you have a washing machine, you can use it to also clean your shoe covers along with your clothes.
All you have to do is throw in your covers as part of your laundry load. Add a normal amount of mild laundry detergent, and let it spin. Afterwards, just like the hand washing method, let the fabric air dry.
While this method is generally easier as it requires less effort, it does use more electricity and water than when hand washing. Whatever method you choose though, the goal is to get your shoe covers ready for the next time you need them.
KEEP YOUR REUSABLE SHOE COVERS CLEAN AND READY
At this point, you should be ready to clean your reusable shoe covers. It is always best to capitalize on the reusability of your reusable shoe covers.
Save on costs by negating the need to constantly buy shoe covers. With a good hand or machine wash, your reusable shoe covers will always be ready to go whenever you need them.
